“Did you get the transmission?”
“Every word boss.”
The desert had over 40 occupants covered in a dusty attire; each a Nightbane of different kinds and shapes. The only thing that they had in common was their Bio-Mechanical element in their form. Net Demon gave her signal and the team split into several squads. They were going to save the Nightbane brother that was in danger.
Net Demon took three of her best men and jumped on their hover cycles. “Stay in close contact. The rest of you radio in when you are in position. Triangulate the transmission so that we know the ‘bane’s location and text it to me. In the mean time my team and I are going to do it the old fashion way.”
The dust picked up under the speeding hover cycles. They were only seven clicks away and closing fast. In the distance were three busted speeders and the tracks of the one that escaped in the distance. The team stopped and checked the dead and looked through binoculars and could see the trail of the escaping car.
“That’s our man. Let’s move.” The four of them hoped on their cycles and spun in the new direction. Just then the text message beacon, a single light of green began to hover, “Finally” one of the other Nightbane rolled his six eyes. The team put on their desert scarves to cover their faces from the sand and storms the speeder was heading towards. Net Demon activated the text.
“I know that you found your target before I did be warned. He is with a Free Coder. Could be dangerous. Razor Wire agents always are.”
The team began to race faster and faster towards their target.
From the mirror Happy watched as the dust cloud started coming closer. Inside the cloud was for dots that were growing as they came up faster and faster. The Free Coder was in his own world listening to the latest MP3 and humming with his eyes at half mass and tapping the steering column.
“We’ve got company, Stev7e!"
Stev7e snapped out his trance and adjusted the mirrors. His face grimaced. This was not part of the plan. The Free Code combed his receding hair line and adjusted his glasses and hit the peddle to the metal. This shouldn’t be happening. Who are those guys?
“What’s going on Stev7e?_ Who are those guys? Are they agents of Needles?_ Suddenly Stev7e smiled to himself. Bingo!
”I don’t know but this is the outback of Cyberspace. I just know that we are in danger and those guys might mean business.”
The cycles behind them were picking up speed and catching up. Happy was beginning to panic. He wondered if who these guys were. He took aim and fired a shadow blast. The cycles parted like they predicted every move he attempted and were closing in. It was quite a surprise when the advancing party started to shoot back with their own shadow blast.
It was at that time that he was beginning to sense some familiarity to these beings; like they were his siblings (or something like that). It was an eerie feeling like a Peter Parker’s spider sense; a pricking in the back of his head.
“No, you’re not thinking right. You saw it. They are shooting at us and it’s just like the other time.”
“No, I’m certain…”
“Listen kid I know this place better then you. Sit down and hang tight.”
From behind them a bloody hand connected by extremely long and elastic sinews grabbed the tail. The tingle in the back of Happy’s brain tingled harder. “Stop! I mean it Stev7e!” He put his now glowing in dark energy hand at the side of the Free Coders head.
“I’m sorry kid but there is no way in hades that I am going to die here, not to Nightbane.”
From inside the car a panel materialized and Stev7e put his hand on it. “Chow baby, hope you can drive.” He dematerialized as the speeder began to spin out of control. Before he was completely gone his final words were “Needles says hi to your mom!”
“What! Oh shi….” A bloody hand cut off his sentence as one of the marauders climbed into the now empty seat. “Hi kid, names Stitches.” He was horrific covered in a poor stitch job all over his body. The only Bio-Mechanical thing to this debacle was his bionic hands. He adjusted his sunglasses and slowed the speeder to a stop so that the other team members could introduce themselves.
